Police: Robberies around LSU connected
BATON ROUGE - Three robberies overnight on and near LSU's campus appear to be the work of a single group of robbers, LSU police said.
No one was injured in any of the crimes and men were robbed of wallets and cell phones in the three holdups in less than an hour beginning just before 11 pm, Capt. Cory Lalonde said.
The first victim was attacked as he walked along Highland Road near Raphael Semmes Road. A tall, slender man in a gray hoodie and khaki pants stole his wallet and phone at gunpoint. The robber ran away, Lalonde said.
About 30 minutes later, a second man was robbed in the Hart parking lot near the edge of campus. Two men who took his cellphone at gunpoint. The robbers then got into a small white sedan apparently driven by a third person, Lalonde said.
Baton Rouge Police spokesman Cpl. L'Jean McKneely said about 11:35 pm, two men reported having been robbed at 209 West State Street by two tall men wearing bluish or green hoodies who escaped in a small white sedan. A wallet and a cell phone were stolen in that attack, he said.
Lalonde said that based on the descriptions, it appears that the crimes are linked.
