Police: Robber bashed clerk with cinder block
BATON ROUGE - Police released surveillance photo of two armed robbers who detectives said hit a clerk in the face with a cinder block at a Baton Rouge grocery store early Tuesday morning.
Cpl. Don Coppola said the robbery happened at Adams Grocery on North Acadian Thruway around 3:05 a.m., and the two made off with an undisclosed amount of money from the register.
Coppola said a store employee had unlocked the back door of the business to let another worker leave when he was hit in the face with a cinder block. After that Coppola said the two suspects made their way inside and stole cash from the register, along with some of the store's merchandise.
Police said the injured worker is being treated at a local hospital.
Police said the first robber is described as a black male around 5'8", medium build, dark complexion, wearing a dark colored jacket with a with dark pants. The second robber is described as a black male around 5'8", medium build, dark complexion wearing a dark colored hooded jacket with white jogging pants with dark stripes.
