BATON ROUGE – Late Tuesday, police released a picture of a car related to a shooting that left a boxer in life-threatening condition at an area hospital.

Authorities said they are searching for a red car in connection to the shooting that happened in Mid City a day earlier. The small sedan was seen on surveillance video leaving Mid City Garden Apartments at 250 S. 17th Street just before the shooting.  Police believe that one of the people in the car pulled the trigger.

Emanuel Augustus was shot about 8 p.m. at the intersection of Louisiana Avenue and South 17th Street. His boxing gloves were found on the ground near where he was shot.

Police ask people with information to call the Violent Crimes Unit at 389-4869.
