Police recover stolen truck involved in chase
RAYNE- Rayne Police drove a stolen city truck back to town Thursday, after it was involved in a chase in Baton Rouge Wednesday night.
John Smith is charged for taking a city truck from the Rayne Public Works Compound last Saturday. The truck had heavy damage on one side. Spraypaint had been used in an attempt to cover the city logo.
Baton Rouge Police spotted the truck leaving a Florida Boulevard motel. They say Smith lead them on a car chase ending near the corner of North Lobdell and Choctaw. A K-9 unit helped catch Smith after a short foot chase.
Police say Smith could have an estimated 15 years added on to his sentence because of the escape and running from police.
