Police: Possible graves in Shunick search "nothing"
LAFAYETTE - Authorities said they found nothing of interest from a search this morning of possible gravesites related to the disappearance of Lafayette college student Mickey Shunick.
Police searched an area of Brandon Lavergne's property today in St. Landry Parish. Lavergne was arrested and accused of murder and kidnapping in Shunick's disappearance, but investigators said they still had not located Shunick's body.
TV station KATC reported that a police spokesperson said what they initially thought could have been several shallow graves turned out to be nothing, so the parish sheriff called off the search.
Mike Steele is in the area to talk to investigators today, and will have more on these developments on News 2 tonight.
