GRAMERCY - State police say a man was killed early Saturday morning in a three vehicle crash.

Kenneth Nolting, 56, from New Orleans died after the crash happened near La. Hwy 641 at around 1:30 a.m. in St. James parish.

Police say Nolting was traveling eastbound when he veered off the road to the left and hit the cable barrier in the median of I-10. When the barrier ended, he traveled into the westbound lanes and hit Blerond Oda's, 26, Volkswagon Jetta and James Spears's, 43, International box truck.

Officials say Nolting died even though he was wearing a seat belt. Oda suffered moderate to severe injuries and Spears was unharmed.

No word yet on if Nolting was impaired. The crash is still under investigation.
