One dead in Osceola Street shooting

BATON ROUGE - Police say one person was killed in a shooting in Baton Rouge Thursday night.

According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, Monquel Yates, 24, was killed in a shooting at 3600 block of Osceola Street in Baton Rouge Thursday night just before midnight.

Police said officers responded to a shot spotter call and found an unoccupied parked vehicle with shattered glass and blood inside. Officers said they followed a blood trail outside the vehicle and found Yates. 

BRPD said that the motive for the shooting is unknown at this time.  Anyone with information relative to this incident is urged to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at 389-4869.
