Police name second suspect in dancer's death
KENNER - Kenner police say the companion of a woman arrested on Wednesday remains a suspect in the death of a Bourbon Street dancer whose dismembered body washed up on Mississippi beaches in 2012.
Chief Steve Caraway said Thursday that detectives investigating 22-year-old Jaren Lockhart's death interviewed 41-year-old Terry Speaks in the past two weeks.
But he says it was information from new witnesses located by detectives that led to Wednesday's arrest of Margaret Sanchez.
He would not discuss a possible motive.
Caraway says investigators believe Lockhart's dismembered body was dumped off a bridge in Mississippi.
Authorities say surveillance video at a strip club where Lockhart worked shows Speaks and Sanchez leaving with the dancer in June 2012.
Speaks is in a federal prison for failing to register as a sex offender.
