Police are looking for a man who they said is wanted for attempted second degree murder.

Authorities said a man told them 25-year-old Eddie Joseph McIntyre III, Thibodaux, shot at him three or four times around 8:45 Saturday night. The victim said as he was walking towards his house, he heard what sounded like several gunshots coming from a nearby cane field and saw McIntyre walking out of a ditch. He said McIntyre then shot at the victim but missed. McIntyre ran back into the ditch, and the victim ran inside unharmed.

Police arrived on the scene, and K-9 officers led authorities to McIntyre’s house. Thibodaux Police Department detectives got a search warrant for McIntyre’s home and an arrest warrant for him in reference to one count of attempted second degree murder.

After attempts by the Crisis Negotiations Team to contact McIntyre failed, tear gas was released into the home. Thibodaux Police S.W.A.T. members went inside but couldn’t find McIntyre.

Agencies involved in this incident include Thibodaux Police S.W.A.T. and Crisis Negotiations Departments, as well as the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. team.

Anyone with information about McIntyre’s whereabouts is urged to call the Thibodaux Police Department at 446-5021.
