Police: Man tries to burn woman alive in home
BAKER - Authorities arrested a man after he allegedly tried to set his home ex-girlfriend's home while she was inside Saturday afternoon.
Baker police arrested 54-year-old Leper Lewis Jr. after his ex-girlfriend called authorities claiming he poured gasoline around her home on Husband St. and tried to ignite it with a cigarette lighter.
Lewis' girlfriend claims he's made several death threats towards her on multiple occasions after she broke up with him.
Upon his arrest, police learned Lewis had a criminal history with prior arson charges to his name.
Police booked Lewis into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on multiple charges including attempted aggravated arson, attempted 1st degree murder and public intimidation of a police officer.
