NEW ORLEANS- New Orleans police say a 25-year-old man sent out of a Bourbon Street nightclub for not wearing a shirt shot a bouncer, then shot at a policeman, who killed him.
Coroner's investigator John Gagliano identifies the man as Justin Schaubert of New Iberia.
The early-morning shooting was the second in two days on the popular tourist strip. The first injured two men.
Officer Hilal Williams says Schaubert pulled a gun after being told to put on a shirt or leave the Bourbon Blues Company. She says he left, but bouncers chased and grabbed him outside. Williams says he fired, grazing the back of one bouncer's head, then fired at a responding police officer, who shot him in the body.
Williams says the 33-year-old bouncer was listed in good condition.
