Police: Man kills himself after shooting girlfriend
BOYNTON BEACH, FL - Authorities say a Miami businessman shot and wounded his former girlfriend shot before leading police on a 40-mile chase down Interstate 95 and fatally shooting himself.
Police say a neighbor called 911 after hearing shots Sunday at a townhome where 35-year-old Jyrece McClendon lives. Boynton Beach police say 44-year-old Samori Kwame Walden was leaving as police arrived and that he then drove south on the interstate before shooting himself and crashing his car in Miami-Dade County.
Several law enforcement agencies worked together as the chase continued south.
Police say the couple had apparently broken up several months ago and that the man was trying to reconcile.
Authorities say the woman is expected to survive.
