Police: Man invites friend over for dinner, shooting ensues

UPDATE: Police have charged 59-year-old Darioush Haghighi with attempted murder after he allegedly shot his 63-year-old friend Monday night. 

Police say Haghighi had invited the victim over for dinner at his home. Shortly after his friend arrived, several gunshots were heard outside the residence.

The friend was found in the driveway suffering from apparent gunshot injuries. According to police Haghighi was observed placing a handgun in a trash bin near the driveway.

He is charged with Attempted Second-Degree Murder and Illegal Use of a Weapon.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.

BATON ROUGE - A man was reportedly shot multiple times on Crestwood Street Monday evening.

According to authorities, the shooting occurred in the 3000 block of Crestwood Street around 7:30 p.m.

The male victim was transported to a local hospital suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to authorities. His injuries appear to be life threatening at this time, according to Baton Rouge Police.

One person has been taken into custody in relation to the shooting, according to BRPD.
