BATON ROUGE - An arrest has been made in a Garden District home invasion and rape, police sources told the WBRZ Investigative Unit Saturday morning.

A Baton Rouge Police spokesperson confirmed an arrest was made after detectives worked tirelessly to process DNA evidence at the State Police Crime Lab.  The department said Thairie Xavier Robinson, 22, was booked on aggravated burglary and first degree rape charges.

The arrest comes about 24-hours after WBRZ.com broke details of the attack on Camellia Avenue - one of the quiet, tree-lined streets of the Garden District.

According to court documents, the victim told investigators that Robinson entered her home through a side door then grabbed her neck and kissed her mouth.

After forcing her to take off her clothes and raping her, the victim told BRPD that Robinson took her IPad, $30 in cash and her ID card.

Robinson then poured bleach on himself, the victim’s hands and her clothing. He then told the victim to rub bleach on her body. Before leaving the scene, Robinson asked the victim if her phone number was on the ID card and that he would, “hit her up.”

Court documents say DNA collected from a sexual assault exam matched Robinson’s DNA. The victim also identified Robinson as her attacker in a photo lineup.

Authorities say that Robinson was also involved in a sexual assault in Baton Rouge on April 30.

Court documents say that Robinson was recently released from prison and was living at a home on Astoria Drive. Robinson entered the bathroom at the home while a female victim was changing clothes. The victim in the second incident said Robinson stated that he had been in jail for a long time and needed sex.

The victim said Robinson began touching her while trying to unzip her pants. After a brief struggle, the victim was able to escape the bathroom and alert other people at the home.

Robinson was charged with felony counts of first-degree rape and aggravated burglary. He was also charged with felony sexual battery for the April 30 assault.
