GAUTIER, Miss. - A Louisiana man sought in the disappearance of his wife was hospitalized Friday after apparently shooting himself when found by Mississippi authorities.

Robert Bond Jr., 53, of Bossier City, La., was in stable condition at Singing River Hospital in Gautier, Miss., according to a nursing supervisor.

Gautier detective Sgt. Danny Patrick says Bond was asleep in his truck at a rest stop off Interstate 10 when officers knocked on the window.

Patrick says Bond shot himself with a handgun, and officers then broke the window and summoned medical help.

The Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office issued an arrest warrant for second-degree murder after Ann Bond, 46, was reported missing on Thursday.

Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Bill Davis said Ann Bond hasn't been located and investigators believe she is dead.
