GREENSBURG - Crumbling roads are a major problem the Saint Helena Parish Police Jury is trying to solve tonight.

Jury members are trying to come up with the money to pay for repairs. They are considering rededicating money from a parish property tax and also pulling money from the solid waste funds for the road project.

That should provide about $3 million dollars to repair around 50 miles of dilapidated roads.

"They're terrible. For the last four years we've been fighting trying to find ways to do this and get some roads repaved," said police juror Thomas Wicker.

If the money shift is approved at tonight's police jury meeting, road repairs could begin in just a few weeks.
