JACKSON –Two Jackson Police officers are lucky to be alive Sunday after a man stabbed one officer and threw bleach at another officer’s face Sunday.

Jackson Marshal Fred Allen told WBRZ Channel 2 that the incident happened on Eddie Robinson Lane around 8 a.m. Sunday.

Allen said the officers where executing a search warrant when they found the man at his home.

The Marshal says the man threw bleach on one officer then grabbed a steak knife and stabbed the other officer in the head.

Both officers were transported to a local hospital and Allen said both are expected to make a full recovery.

“God bless them and all the training we give them. They know how to handle themselves without it getting deadly,” Allen said.

Officials say the suspect was taken to the hospital and is undergoing a mental health evaluation. He has not been booked into jail.

According to Allen, the man faces multiple charges, including two counts of attempted murder of a police officer.
