BATON ROUGE- Police evacuated an area off Sherwood Forest Blvd. after the bomb squad was called in to investigate an abandoned truck.

Police responded out to the truck, which they said was stolen and found behind a building on Market Place Ave. this morning around 9 a.m.

BRPD spokesperson Cpl. L'Jean McKneely said the truck smelled like ammonia and methane, so the bomb squad was called in to check it out as a precaution.

Police also blocked off Haymarket and Market Place, and evacuated people inside that area.

News 2's Rob Krieger will have more on the investigation tonight at 5 and 6.
