Police investigating dead baby found in trash compactor
SLIDELL - Police are in the early stages of an investigation into the death of a baby in Slidell after the body of an infant was found in a trash compactor at an apartment complex Monday morning.
Slidell Police said a maintenance employee made the grisly discovery around 9:15 a.m. this morning.
"We are at the very early stages of this investigation and will hopefully know more by this evening or early tomorrow morning," said Slidell Police Chief Randy Smith.
Details about the baby's cause of death, age and other important information are currently being assembled by the St. Tammany Parish Coroner's Office.
Further details on the ongoing investigation are expected later this afternoon or early tomorrow.
