Police investigate teen shot to death in Sherwood area
BATON ROUGE - Sherral Fernandez lives in the area where 17-year-old Lazell James was found shot to death.
Fernandez says what happened to James is starting to be a familiar scene around La Annie Drive.
"It really really upset me," she says. "They're unmotivated, and uneducated and nobody seems to care."
Edward Hampton agrees and says he recently dodged a bullet himself.
"One day there was a shooting, whoever was shooting right outside the apartment where I live, the bullet struck my car," he says, " bounced off my car and hit another car and hit a window."
Hampton and others are wondering what will put a stop to the killings on their block.
"If the parents would just talk to they kids and have them respect people like you would want to be respected," he suggests, " I'm not saying that's gonna make a difference but it's an ounce of prevention," says Hampton.
