BATON ROUGE - A mail carrier is on a new route on Monday after this attack was caught on video last week.

Cell phone video shows teenage boys chasing and taunting a mail carrier in the 6000 block of Linden Street. It's a story News 2 broke on Friday when police arrested a 15-year-old in connection with the incident.

News 2 caught up with the regular mailman who often delivers in the Brookstown neighborhood.

He told News 2 he's been delivering in that area for three years, and has never really had any major problems with people that live there.

It was a quiet day down Linden Street. The mailman made his usual rounds delivering mail after his substiute was attacked and then moved to another route.

Cell phone video captured last Friday shows a group of rowdy teens coming out of no where and going after this mailman. Although it's unclear what sparked the action, News 2 spoke to the man who captured it on camera.

"I was right here where we at right now, and the first thing I thought was video," said Miles Galmon.

Miles Galmon was outside of his home when it all went down. He told News 2 he didn't think it was a serious situation at first.

"It was giggles but then when I seen it was serious I was like wait hold up," said Galmon. "I couldn't stop the video I just kept it rolling."

Baton Rouge Police Department detectives were also out in the neighborhood interviewing those who saw it happen. Some were not familiar with the incident.

"If it was someone from your family that was delivering mail, you wouldn't want that to be done unto them so you have to be considerate," said Konrad Lane, who lives nearby. "I think it's sad... we need prayer."

Police interviewed neighbors in the area about the attack, but offered no new information.  The U.S. Postal Service is aware of the video and are still working with law enforcement on the investigation. They say its employees are trained to retreat to a safe location in a situation like this. It's unclear if those caught will face federal charges.
