Police increase security at Slidell Grand Theatre
SLIDELL - Police in Slidell announced they will increase security at their city's Grand Theatre after a deadly shooting at another Grand in Lafayette.
Louisiana State Police said 59-year-old John Houser shot and killed two women and injured nine other moviegoers Thursday night at the Lafayette Grand Theatre.
Slidell Police said starting Friday they will provide an "around the clock" security detail for the Grand Theatre in Slidell. The department said on Facebook they wanted people going to the movies to know they would be protected by officers on a full-time basis.
Investigators said they believe Houser acted alone in the Lafayette shooting, and there were no other "imminent" threats connected to his actions.
