Police ID suspect in shooting that left boxer in a coma
BATON ROUGE- Police have issued an arrest warrant for a 21-year-old connected to the shooting that left a popular boxer in a coma.
Emanuel Augustus, 39, was found shot near his boxing gloves and a gym bag Monday on Louisiana Avenue near South 17th Street. He was taken to an area hospital with a bullet lodged in his head.
Wednesday, police said Christopher Stills was wanted for the shooting. Investigators said a motive was still unclear. Stills' picture is attached to this story.
Stills is wanted for attempted murder, felon in possession with a gun and illegal use of a weapon.
Earlier Wednesday, family members begged for the shooter to turn himself in.
"Come forward and talk to them. Don't worry about what people might say," said Stephanie Cofield-Augustus. She is Augustus' aunt.
Doctors told the family it's a waiting game to see if he recovers.
People with information about where Stills is should contact the Violent Crimes Unit at 389-4869.
