BAKER - A month long police investigation into a shoe shop took drugs off the streets in Baker Wednesday evening.

The Baker Police Department, Criminal Investigations Division and the Special Response Team served a search warrant at Hebrard's Shoe Shine and Repair. Inside authorities said they found Warren "Worm" Montgomery and drugs.

Police said there were about a dozen baggies of marijuana and a blunt in Montgomery's pant pocket.

The warrant was one of about 100 the Baker Police planned on issuing. Some were for unpaid traffic tickets while others for more serious crimes.

"They don't realize they have a warrant, and they just don't take care of it," said Chief Mike Knaps. "One of the reasons we're doing this is to keep people home from Christmas, and have this behind them so they don't have to look over their back while they're spending time with family."

Montgomery was booked at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
