Police: Elderly woman kills three, injures five more leaving church
BRADENTON, FL - A police report says that a car accident that killed three pedestrians in Florida doesn't appear to be alcohol related.
The Florida Highway Patrol report says the driver of the car was 79-year-old Doreen Landstra of Palmetto, Fla.
The report says Landstra was backing out of a parking spot, pulled forward and needed more room to clear another parked vehicle. At that point, Landstra's SUV began backing again and struck seven people.
Messages left for Landstra on Sunday night weren't immediately returned.
The report indicates that a decision hasn't been made whether Landstra will face charges, pending further investigation.
