BATON ROUGE - One person is dead after a pickup led police on a high-speed chase from LSU to the State Archives, where it crashed.

The chase started when the truck crashed through barricades on Tower Drive at the LSU campus, according to LSU Police. City police and sheriff's deputies picked up the chase as it left the campus and went onto the interstate.

Spike strips were deployed, and the vehicle crashed after exiting onto Essen. Police tell News 2 the driver killed himself at the scene.
