Police: Driver booked with vehicular homicide
KROTZ SPRINGS - Louisiana State Police say a 28-year-old man has been booked with vehicular homicide after his pickup truck hit a tree, killing a 54-year-old woman and critically injuring another woman.
Master Trooper Brooks David says Nicholas Lafleur of Opelousas was booked into the St. Landry Parish jail after a breath test indicated more than the legal limit of alcohol. It was not clear whether Lafleur had an attorney.
David says the wreck Saturday killed Judy Stelly of Opelousas, critically injured 41-year-old Andrea Lacombe of Walker and left a 7-year-old with moderate injuries.
He says Lafleur was also booked with drunken driving, two counts of vehicular negligent injury, reckless driving and two counts of no seatbelt.
The crash remains under investigation.
