Police credit license plate reader in arrest
BATON ROUGE - Police said that a license plate reader helped locate a man wanted in connection with a bank robbery from earlier this week in Baton Rouge.
Baton Rouge Police arrested Quarles Harris, 40, and charged him with armed robbery. He was also wanted by New Orleans Police for another armed robbery.
Cpl. L'Jean McKneely said police tried to pull Harris over Thursday evening after a license plate reader picked up his vehicle traveling on S. Choctaw. Police said Harris fled and wrecked his vehicle, then tried to flee on foot. Officers caught him after a short foot pursuit.
Police said Harris robbed the Regions Bank at 3121 South Sherwood Forest Blvd. on Monday. They booked him into the parish prison on armed robbery charges.
