Police closely investigating fire called in by child
BAKER - Police say they are closely investigating a fire today called in by a child over the weekend, saying her mom was lighting their house on fire.
Baker Fire Department arrived on scene Saturday to find light smoke inside the home.
Firefighters and Baker Police forced their way into the single-family home through the kitchen door where they found the oven door opened and on high with blue jeans inside. Officers say they think the mother put the jeans in the oven, turned it on and left. They also found some clothing burned a small area on the floor and cabinet.
No one was there when officers arrived, but the homeowner and mother arrived afterward.
No arrest has been made and it's still unclear to investigators as to what exactly happened before firefighters arrived.
Officers are trying to get family members to give an official statement on what happened under these "peculiar circumstances."
