BATON ROUGE - A police raid to catch an attempted murder suspect caught several men, including the suspect, smoking marijuana in broad daylight authorities said.

Monday, Baton Rouge officers arrested Steaphon Harris,28, for shooting a man at 1819 N. Marque Ann three days earlier.

Police said Harris was armed with a shotgun and started shooting for unknown reasons. The victim was transported to a hospital with potentially life-threatening wounds.

Officers raided the home on Plantation Dr. near Baker when they got a tip Harris may be at the residence. When they got there, officers found several men smoking marijuana in the driveway.

A brief pursuit followed and seven men were detained, including Harris.

Police charged Harris with Attempted Second Degree Murder, Illegal Use of a Weapon and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Another man was arrested for drug possession and a third on a warrant, according to Lt. Don Kelly.
