BAKER - Authorities arrested a man after they said he set fire to a Baker home while his children and ex-girlfriend were still inside.
Chief Mike Knaps with Baker Police said Bobby Lee Turcuit was arrested Thursday night in suspicion of aggravated arson, after investigators caught him outside the home on Whitehead Street.
Knaps said Turcuit started a fire in a utility room, and when police were called out they were able to stop it from spreading.
"They noticed the utility room was on fire so they took their fire extinguishers and extinguished the majority of the fire. They got the fire hose and put the rest out," he said.
Investigators said Turcuit set the fire because of an argument he'd had with his ex-girlfriend about her seeing another man.
Tircuit was booked into the parish prison on three counts of aggravated arson.
