Police arrest woman in prostitution sting
BATON ROUGE - Sheriff's deputies arrested a woman as part of an internet prostitution sting in East Baton Rouge Parish.
Deputies arrested Roxanne Merritt, 21, on April 24 for prostitution and drug charges.
According to arrest records, an undercover detective contacted Merritt through a website known for prostitution, where she was listed under the name "Melanie Love." The detective said she agreed to meet him at a Baton Rouge hotel, offering an hour of sex for $300.
Deputies said when the detective met Merritt he confirmed she would give him sex in exchange for cash, and arrested her. Detectives said they also found several narcotic pills and marijuana in the room with Merritt, which she claimed weren't hers.
Deputies booked Merritt into the parish prison on suspicion of prostitution, marijuana possession, and oxymorphone possession.
