Alexandria police say a man has been arrested for allegedly giving his 5-year-old daughter alcohol.

William Moore was booked with second-degree cruelty to a juvenile.

According to police, the girl's mother told her daughter that she could go to her father's home around noon on Sunday.

The woman said that the girl returned home around 8:15 p.m. and appeared to be intoxicated.

The girl later became sick and was hospitalized.
