BATCHELOR - Lundi Gras at the Old River Landing is an annual tradition, but it didn't happen this year.

A parade, music and lots of gumbo all come together to make the event, but this year, none of that will happen because of area flooding.

Two weeks ago, the flood water washed away everything that couldn't float.

The water finally receded Saturday morning, but not in time for the parade.

The gravel road that once served as a parade route became a right of way for boats, and now, it's a thick layer of dirt.

"We got about two inches of mud this flood, probably more mud than I've ever seen deposited here," Old River Landing owner Jacques Lacour said.

Lacour spent the morning cleaning up the restaurant, and he expects to be ready to go for the always anticipated Thursday Steak Night.

That is only if the water allows, of course.

"If it rises more than two feet, we'll be in water again. So, we may just have to wait a little longer to open."

Despite missing this year's Mardi Gras party, there will still be plenty of celebrations on tap once the Old River Landing is up and running again.
