Pointe Coupee 4H team wins national seafood cookoff
NEW ORLEANS - For the first time since the Great American Seafood Cookoff was founded, a Louisiana team of high school students took home the top prize.
Pointe Coupee high school students Grant Jourdan, Natalie Hardy, Annie Gosserand, and Katie Lacour won the top prize at the cookoff in New Orleans last month, preparing a seafood appetizer medley which earned them gold medals and $1,000.
The team competed against 4H clubs from four other states, and won the state-level cookoff in June to take part in the national competition held in New Orleans each year.
The compeition is organized by the LSU AgCenter, La. 4H Foundation, and the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board.
