Poche's pitching gem lifts LSU baseball over Georgia 2-1
BATON ROUGE - Jared Poche' threw one out shy of a complete game and LSU did just enough against rising Georgia star Robert Tyler to take a 2-1 win over the Bulldogs and take its first SEC series of the season.
Poche' threw 8.2 innings while only allowing three hits and 6 strikeouts: Paul Mainieri said Poche' showed why he was the Gatorade high school player of the year in 2013.
"He doesn't have the overpowering stuff like their kid did," Mainieri said of the freshman from Lutcher. "Their kid was throwing 10 miles per hour faster than Poche' but (Poche') outpitched him."
