Plauche buried after dying from stroke
BATON ROUGE - A man known for taking justice into his own hands by killing the person accused of molesting his son was buried today in Baton Rouge.
Gay Plauche died this week after complications from a stroke.
In the 80s Plauche shot and killed Jeffery Doucet, who was accused of molesting Plauche's son. Police were escorting Doucet through the Baton Rouge airport in handcuffs when the shooting happened.
Today, Plauche's son said he didn't agree with what his father did, but understands why he pulled the trigger.
"I would never advocate for anyone to put themselves in the place to be prosecuted," he said. "My dad wasn't in his right mind when he did it, he never regretted it, but it did bother him that he took a life."
Plauche was convicted of manslaughter for killing Doucet, but got a suspended sentence and never served time in prison.
