PLAQUEMINE - The Plaquemine Lock State Historic Site will re-open to visitors early in the new year.

In July the lock was placed on “caretaker status” because of state budget cuts, making it available to visit by appointment only.

The Lock will re-open on Jan. 5, with operating hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday through Sunday.

Rachel Frost spoke today to members of the community about their efforts to re-open the historic site, and will have their story tonight on News 2 at 5.
