Plaquemine ferry resumes regular service today
PLAQUEMINE - The ferry between Plaquemine and Sunshine reopened around 7 p.m. on Monday, and is back to its normal schedule today, according the Louisiana DOTD.
The vessel was out of service yesterday as crews tried to locally source the parts needed to repair a failed onboard generator, which made it difficult for the DOTD to estimate when service would resume.
Repairs were completed earlier than expected, and the ferry returned to service Monday evening.
The LADOTD encourages drivers to call the Toll-Free Ferry Information line at 1-888-613-3779 for the status of the ferry, or visit the "Ferry Status" page on the right-hand side of the DOTD website.
Drivers can also access timely updates on the ferry status by following their Twitter account.
