BATON ROUGE - The president of the Louisiana Nursery recommends planting nandina flowers for the summer.

According to Mitch Mayes from the Louisiana Nursery, nandinas are a new variety of flower that thrives in the summer heat. In addition, Mayes said nandinas change colors throughout the year, varying from green to burgundy.

Mayes also recommended planting lantanas for the summer season. Mayes said lantanas are self-cleaning, making them easy to manage.
