Plantation destroyed by fire
ARABI - A plantation in St. Bernard Parish has been destroyed by an early morning fire.
The LeBeau Plantation in is an Old Arabi landmark built in the 1850's and was one of the largest plantaions south of New Orleans.
Firefighters were called to the plantation around 2 a.m. Friday.
St. Bernard Parish Fire Chief Thomas Stone says the building was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
Stone says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
