Plans to reduce EBR school board members gets delayed
BATON ROUGE- A special meeting for East Baton Rouge Parish School Board is cancelled because members did not show up.
EBR School Board only had five members present for a special meeting to introduce plans for reapportionment of the districts. This is after a committee gave them the green light to remove two members from their board.
Before the meeting, members met with Redistricting LLC to draw up plans for the members. Plans range from a seven member board to a ten member board. Some argue that a smaller board will be more responsible and effecient, others say the districts will become overwhelmingly large, once reapportioned.
This meeting is rescheduled for Thursday, June 5 at 5pm at the School Board Office.
Once the plans are introduced, they'll be open for public input. Then, the board has to wait twenty days before bringing it to a vote.
