Plans for new EBR school district altered
BATON ROUGE- Legislation that would create a breakaway school district in Southeast East Baton Rouge Parish advanced out of committee, but not before changes were made to the boundary lines.
Senator Bodi White, R- Central, says he started working with members of the public last fall to create the new system. It would include most of the areas east of I-10 below the I-10/I-12 split and the area south of the I-12 corridor.
An amendment by Senator Dan Claitor, R- Baton Rouge, removes part of that territory from the proposed district. Westminster and Jefferson Terrace would remain part of the EBR school system.
We'll have reaction from people in those areas tonight.
