Officials in Jamaica say more than 40 people were injured, including four seriously when an American
Airlines flight overshot a runway during a heavy rainstorm in Kingston.

Jamaican Information Minister Daryl Vaz says the airplane is cracked in three places and that 44 people were taken to local hospitals with broken bones and other injuries.

An American spokesman says most of those who were treated at a hospital have been released.
