BATON ROUGE - About 3,000 movie extras from Louisiana and beyond were positioned at Highland Park for the final scene of "Pitch Perfect 2" overnight Friday.

The BREC park on Highland Road was transformed into a concert venue. The day of shooting with about 250 crew members is valued at a couple hundred thousand dollars.

"We've brought a lot of folks in to help us," said executive producer and Louisiana native Scott Niemeyer.

"Pitch Perfect 2" is a movie about college choirs competing to be the best. The first movie was shot around Baton Rouge and LSU, where producers decided to return for the sequel.

"It's a great opportunity to be able to bring jobs and economic benefit back to the state I grew up in," said Niemeyer.

The casting call for Friday's shoot was Tweeted and promoted by cast members.

With temperatures in the 90's, EMS was on stand-by and local businesses, like Ty Ty Royal Ice, provided food and refreshments.

"These people are eating healthy Italian ice, cooling off," said Owner Tina Turner. "It's hot out here. We are just glad to be here and be able to serve."

"Pitch Perfect 2" director and cast member Elizabeth Banks was seen shooting scenes with John Michael Higgins.

The movie wraps in Baton Rouge in late July.
