Pit bull attacks 91-year-old woman twice, kills her dog
Michael Kopynec is facing charges after his pit bull attacked his 91-year-old neighbor on two separate occasions and killed her dog.
Kopynec said he fell asleep in his backyard early Thursday evening. That's when his pit bull, Boondock, jumped over the fence and attacked Naomi Smith and her schnauzer Geaux Sport. Naomi escaped the attack, but her dog was killed.
That wasn't the first attack from the pit bull. Kopynec's dog attacked Smith and her dog just days ago. Kopynec said he took Smith's dog to the veterinarian and paid the bill after the first attack.
Kopynec says he is sorry, and left a note in Smith's mailbox Saturday morning apologizing for the attack.
Still, neighbors wonder why more wasn't done sooner to prevent the deadly attack.
Betty Singh wants her neighborhood to agree not to allow any more pit bulls in the neighborhood.
That is not good enough for Smith, who said she doesn't forgive Kopynec, because he can never bring her dog back.
Animal control has the pit bull and plans to euthanize it.
