Pilot kept mum about landing
WICHITA, KANSAS- One pilot aboard a Boeing 747 cargo jet that landed at the wrong airport thought the jet was landing where it wasn't supposed to but kept quiet to another pilot at the controls.
The company that operates the jet, Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings confirmed the findings were in a training video it produced that was obtained by Aviation International News.
The Atlas pilots landed near Wichita, about nine miles from their intended destination.
AIN says one of the pilots abandoned the plane's instrument-guided approach after seeing a runway to the left and started heading there. It was the wrong airport.
AIN says they other pilot was uncertain about the landing but didn't say anything.
