Pierre the Pelican's new look revealed
NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans Pelicans revealed the new face of their mascot Pierre the Pelican Wednesday night.
Gone are the red beak and yellow feathers that inspired a number of internet memes poking fun at the "terrifying" mascot. Pierre's new look is covered in brown, with a bright yellow beak.
The Pelicans revealed the change during their game against the Milwaukee Bucks Wednesday, which New Orleans won 102-98.
The organization said earlier this week Pierre was injured during a pickup game with other mascots, and had to undergo "reconstructive surgery."
