Photos released of helmeted bank robber
GEISMAR - Investigators said they're searching for an armed man in a motorcycle helmet who robbed an Ascension Parish bank Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities said the robbery happened around 12:40 p.m. at the Red River Bank in Geismar. They said the robber's helmet covered his face, but witnesses told them he was a black man, 6'1" tall with a slim to medium build.
They said he came into the bank, brandished a handgun and demanded money before fleeing the scene in a gold or light-colored four-door car. Deputies said he may have fled south on Highway 73 in the car, which they believe someone else was driving.
Dutchtown High School was briefly locked down after the robbery. An alert was also sent out to parents telling them students were not in any immediate danger.
