Phillips Bayou being pumped for 2nd time this year

For the second time this year, a portable pump is moving water from Phillips Bayou in the Monroe area into the Ouachita River to ensure that nearby houses don't flood.

One lane of Country Club Road will be closed for the next two weeks, and drivers will have to ease slowly over the pipe in the other lanes.

When the Ouachita River is high, a gate between the river and bayou is closed to keep river water from flooding the area.

So when rain fills the bayou, the water must be pumped out into the river.
